This refers to the way you show and receive love. Expressing love is about being genuine, respectful and thoughtful. Love can be expressed in many ways, understanding how your loved ones show and feel affection, and being willing to express your feelings in the way they best receive them, can help both of you to feel loved and fulfilled in your relationship. Summarily, love can be expressed in 5 ways:

Summarily, love can be expressed in 5 ways:

  1. Gifts: you can give or receive love through gift-giving. These can be small gifts or tokens, personalised items, customised gifts, surprise getaways, homemade treats or meals etc. The thoughtfulness of the giver of the gift is what matters and not the size of the gift.
  2. Quality Time: šŸ‘«This involves spending time together doing the things you both enjoy such as sharing meals, playing games, watching movies together, sharing hobbies, attending events together, listening actively and showing interest in each other’s passion and hobbies.
  3. Words of affirmation šŸ—£: this includes telling each other how you feel, encouraging each other with kind words, giving compliments, writing heartfelt notes or letters, sending sweet texts or messages, supportive listening to each other, words of appreciation etc.
  4. Acts of ServicešŸŽ–ļø: this includes helping with chores, running errands, acts of kindness, offering help to loved ones when needed.
  5. Physical Touch: this includes holding hands, cuddling, hugging, kisses, massages, gentle caresses and intimate gestures (romantic relationships).

While expressing love, it is important that you

  • Prioritise your emotional well-being and protect yourself from harm.
  • Respect boundaries and do not push others to reciprocate
  • Clarify feelings and expectations through open and honest communication.
